Employed Labour Force

The employed labour force consists of people who have done work for pay or profit. It includes private and public sector employees and people who are self-employed.

The Workers
In 2000, both men and women in Saskatchewan were employed at a slightly higher rate than the national average.

In 2000, the largest working group in Saskatchewan was comprised of 25 to 54 year olds. And 84% of this age group was employed.

More young people are pursuing post-secondary education. This is reflected in a decrease in the youth (15 to 24) employment rate over time.

The number of people aged 20 to 29 in the population has declined over the past 20 years. But the number of full-time students in this age group has more than doubled.

In 2000, 9% of Saskatchewan’s employed labour force were multiple job holders, in equal numbers of males and females
