Legislation Governing the Workplace:

General Information:

Employers and their employees are covered by either federal or provincial regualtions. Laws and regulations point employers to the correct legislation based on their business. For information covering a number of pieces of federal legislation and practices which are necessary in the workplace, you can begin by going to the federal government's site: Human Resource and Social Development Canada.

Service Canada also provides a web site called HR for Employers where you will find information on a variety of topics that cover hiring, retaining and terminating employees including laws and regulations for hiring and departing employees.

Information on topics that impact the Saskatchewan workplace can be found on the Advanced Education, Employment and Labour web site. Details on specific legislation can also be found on this site.
